Oare String Orchestra

Making music since 1982

Winner of 6 PRS awards for programming, OSO has earned acclaim for its rich, vibrant playing in Holland, Denmark and France and in many Home Counties venues. Oare String Orchestra promotes three concerts each year in Faversham. Usually these are held at the Alexander Centre. (For a map showing the Alexander Centre, go to the Concerts page.)The orchestra occasionally performs at other venues and is always keen to discuss opportunities to take part in festivals and to perform on other, ad hoc, occasions.

We are very sad to record the deaths of two of the Orchestra's friends: Bob Briggs and Coen van der Heide. Bob was a critic who had attended, and reviewed, some of our more recent concerts; Coen was the conductor of the Tollens Ensemble, with whom we have collaberated happily in the past. Brief appreciations of their lives may be found here.

Oare String Orchestra is pleased to announce its fourth Composing Competition to celebrate the Orchestra's Thirtieth Anniversary.
There is more information on our Composing Competition page.
